Intel’s Active Management Technology (AMT) is essentially an operating system burned into a chipset. As long as a PC is connected to electricity and a network, even though powered down, a user (remote/local) can examine hardware and read/ write memory/hard-drives without booting into Windows, Linux, Unix, etc. With the known vulnerability “SILENT BOB IS SILENT” it is imperative that users disable AMT.
None of my PCs have AMT on the motherboard. Intel provides software to disable AMT if it’s in your motherboard.
Good luck, everyone!
